Encircled by the Persian Gulf, with Saudi Arabia just to the west and Qatar to the east, the Kingdom of Bahrain is a collection of 33 islands with a history that dates back to 3000 BC. In Bahrain, all faiths are permitted to take advantage of an abundant nightlife that draws tourists from abroad and, in particular, adjacent Saudi Arabia. In short, for travellers, Bahrain is an ideal introduction to the Middle East.
