Located in the far northwest of Laos, Luang Namtha owes much of its ethnic diversity to its location close to China, Thailand and Myanmar. Direct flights are available from the Lao capital Vientiane, or overland from Luang Prabang. China (via the Boten border crossing) or Thailand (via the Huay Xai border crossing). Access is not easy, but the remote mountainous province holds many treasures worth travelling to see.
