Nevis hotels

Nevis remains one of the few unspoilt gems in the string of pearls that make up the Islands of the Eastern Caribbean.  Geologically it resembles an upside down ice cream cone with a central mountain rising to 3200 feet, completely covered with rainforest. At the base of this volcanic cone, there are beaches both on the calm Caribbean side as well as wave torn Atlantic side. Staying in one of the many Nevis hotels, travellers can experience the combination of African roots and British Colonial traditions have merged to form a fascinating culture that loves music, exotic foods and dance but insists on pristine manners and good behaviour.

The population numbers about 11,000 people mainly of African and European mixed descent. Nevis is joined in Federation with its sister island of St Kitts, to form the small independent Nation of St Kitts and Nevis.  Activities on the island are mainly nature based with Scuba, horseback riding, mountain bikes, windsurfing, ocean kayaks, rainforest hikes, day sailing, game fishing and snorkel trips all of which are accessed from Oualie Beach .

Accommodation in Nevis
is available for every budget from backpacker style guesthouses from as low as US$40/night to five star Nevis hotels or even a Nevis Villa at US$1,000/night. There are several  excellent Nevis resorts located right on the beach, the best known being the Oualie Beach Resort . There is also a fine selection of Nevis hotels built on renovated plantations on the mountain slopes, such as the Hermitage Plantation Inn  and the Golden Rock Hotel.

The most popular time of year to visit is when it is cold in Europe and North America. The Nevis weather is perfect, around 70 degrees in the evenings and about 85 degrees during the day. However, the prettiest time to visit is during the summer months. The island is very green thanks to a daily shower lasting only a few minutes and the sea is perfectly calm and clear. The flame trees are in full blossom and best yet, the prices are lowest at that time of year and you have the island to yourself!
